Beara Footballer Known Throughout The Land

Kevin Jer O'Sullivan SportsLife Tribute Recalling The Golden Memories Of An Outstanding Club & County Football Career

One of Cork’s greatest ever wing backs was Kevin Jer O’Sullivan of the Adrigole G.A.A. club on the famed and picturesque Ring of Beara, Co. Cork. Kevin is a former player I had the pleasure of seeing in action many times and long before attacking wing backs made forays into their opponents half, Kevin was a player who created this art of gaelic football, now a huge component of modern day football.

Winning the Sam Maguire in 1973 was a springboard to national fame for Kevin and when I met the former Adrigole and Cork footballer on Monday 8th May 2017, at his Pine Lodge home, just outside Glengarriffe, I was reminded of the zest still flowing very strongly inside Kevin when it comes to matters of gaelic football.

There’s no pulling words out of Kevin – they just flow sweetly along.

On a date to be confirmed with Kevin, most likely September 2017, I will host a SportsLife Tribute & Hall Of Fame Induction Show at a venue to be sanctioned as soon as possible.

This tribute is long overdue and Kevin is a sports personality locked in my mind for several years with a view to promoting and preserving Kevin Jer O’Sullivan’s outstanding football career with an All Ireland Hall Of Fame Induction @

Our website, established in the summer of 2006 to expand our historical promotion and preservation of Famous Sons & Daughters Of Ireland, is a haven of interesting reading on matters of Ireland’s sporting and musical heritage.

Personalities incorporated with tributes and profiles are extensive and range from Irish actress, Maureen O’Hara (who lived in Glengarriffe for several decades); Michael Collins; Arthur Guinness; Christy Ring; John McCormick; Joe Dolan; Roy Keane; Trudi Lalor; Nano Nagle; Jimmy Doyle and many more famous and not so famous Irish personalities from all over the Island of Ireland.

Kevin Jer’s promotion, courtesy of our Irish Heritage Website, will reach out to Irish people, Irish exiles in foreign lands and people of Irish ancestry around the globe. However most importantly, it is the sports people of Beara and the huge army of Kevin Jer fans of Times Past, who will now have their own opportunity, on their own doorstep, to salute one of Cork’s, Beara’s and Adrigole’s, greatest ever footballers.

It is our intention to acquire a suitable large hospitality venue in the Beara Peninsula region to honour this Famous Sporting Son Of Cork. It is anticipated that this event will enable the numerous school friends, former playing colleagues, mentors and administrators, who grew up alongside Kevin, to attend and share with Kevin, his unique SportsLife Tribute Show.

Over many years our special tribute shows have attracted great patronage and we look forward to a house full show for this really special Beara sports legend.

Kevin’s show will take a nostalgic trip through his sportslife story, the golden memories and the storylines will be told through music and song. For several decades our tribute events are also a major family reunion occasion for all our recipients around Ireland and Kevin comes from a large family steeped in sporting heritage, so watch this space.

We look forward to confirming our venue and date at the earliest opportunity.

2017 is also the year when Beara will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of their winning of the 1967 Cork senior football championship title when they defeated U.C.C. after a replay.
