ONE WEEK AT A TIME FOR SPORTSLIFE
SportsLife, since March in 2020 will live long in the memory for players, fans, team managements and clubs across all sports codes and now in the Autumn month of September 2020, it is still not possible to forecast a resumption to normal SportsLife for all involved. The club championships all over Ireland have belatedly lined up, but SportsLife financially have taken an enormous thunder bolt on clubs.
From weekly lotto incomes to gate incomes, and financial streams for clubs with bars, the losses have been really severe. Regretably with the continuing Covid impasse and all the uncertainty for the final months of 2020, not to mention the ponderings for 2021, clubs will need great support from their loyal supporters when SportsLife opens its gates for normal activities.
Live streaming of matches is hugely important and the inventors of the technology hardly envisaged the role their inventions would play in the SportsLife of fans all over Ireland. The inter county activities are upcoming but somehow the zip in interest is far below normal tempertaures. Fans are barely responding as the 2020 competitions will not even be a half baked theatre.
SportsLife fans seem to be equally divided on the decision to stage national All Ireland competitions and with such devastating restrictions on attendance numbers, this can only be expected. In all circumstances public adherence to government guidlines needs to be observed rigidly to enhance the prosperity of normal SportsLife in 20121.
